‘That I Won’t Do’ is an addictive new piece of lo-fi indie from Canadian artist fanclubwallet. The track, which is accompanied by a unique animated visualiser, is centred on a distant beat, with crunchy percussion loops playing perfectly off distinctive synth sounds. Fanclubwallet, real name Hannah Judge, treats her voice with effects that allow it to blend into the warm textures. “When I wrote “That I Won’t Do” I was recovering from a year long illness and re-entering into the socializing world (like so many others post-pandemic),” she explains. “The song is about dealing with a new relationship/friendship where you aren’t sure whether the person is good for you or not, and you’re not feeling like yourself.” Her EP, Hurt Is Boring, dropped earlier in 2021 to critical acclaim. -Dan Peeke
